The Locals Choice - York Minster
The most prominent building in York, the Minster stands to the North of the city. As well as the stunning building, the Minster contains beautiful stained glass, fantastic carved tombs and plaques to those who have died. With reasonable prices, the ability to go up the main tower to see stunning views across the city and in to the undercroft to learn a little more about the history of the site, the modern minster, the treasury and see the crypt, the Minster is a must visit. If you are a UK resident, the Minster offers you the chance to make a gift aid donation when buying your ticket, which then extends the ticket to 12 months access.

The City Walls - The 3.4 km of city walls provide a great chance to see the City of York. Access to the walls is completely free, and you can join at any of the access points, usually the Bars(gates). You can get a guide to the walls for about 60p from any of the tourist information points in the city, and it is definitely worth the money.
