Cookie Jar cover

Gym Class Heroes - Cookie Jar

Ok, please let me stop listening to this, it's torture. No-one cares if you have your hand stuck in a Cookie Jar, or even if you like girls. I think everyone would have guessed that!
Repetitive and ear-burstingly bad. Could I make it any more obvious that I don’t like this single?

C-lebrity cover

Queen - C-lebrity

Well, who would have thought that Queen would ever appear on the new singles out this week list? Well here they are with new vocalist Paul Rodgers, who must be the bravest man in music. Who would want to follow the legendary Freddie Mercury?
I have one problem; why is the famous band lowering itself by using text language in its title, C-Lebrity? Anyway, it starts with an absolutely fantastic guitar intro (what else would you expect?) and there is so much life in the track. Breath-taking.

Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur cover

Sigur Rós - Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur

Another awe-inspiring named single from this fantastic Icelandic band. For those who haven’t yet mastered Icelandic, the Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur translates to “Within Me A Madman Sings.”
Yet again, Sigur Rós have created a spiritual track that just draws you in.

Can't Stop Moving (Mirwais Remix) cover

Sonny J - Can't Stop Moving (Mirwais Remix)

First thing to be asked: what's the difference between the original and the remix, because I have no idea?!
Anyway, this is one of those tunes you hope you won’t like, but it is actually OK, which is good, because it is so catchy. You will be dancing to this for weeks to come. It is definitely a different style of house music, which isn’t repetitive.

In The Ayer cover

Flo Rida - In The Ayer

Arrrgh! Three of my least favourite artists (Flo Rida, Will.i.am and Fergie) have just joined together. First of all it is air, not ayer. Secondly, it is so repetitive. Third and finally; I can’t listen to it the whole way through, my ears just can’t cope.

Viva La Vida cover

Cinnamon - Viva La Vida

Taking a slightly dull Coldplay song and turn it into a lively dance number. In my book, there is nothing wrong with this, it makes the track easier to listen to. I do, however, just wish that Alisha's vocals were slightly stronger and that the backing track was a bit more inventive. A decent cover though.

Hoverfly cover

The Inconsolables - Hoverfly

Well if you thought Kat on Big Brother was quite annoying with her over the top, hyper singing and shouting, then this may not be for you. Sounding like a synth'd up Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Inconsolables offer three minutes of musical madness here which will either be liked or loathed.

Don't Call Me Baby cover

'Lana - Don't Call Me Baby

Bringing back visions of Austria's 2005 Eurovision entry (Do you remember the yodeler and the brass band?) is 'Lana. I'm not entirely sure what to make of this, it's all a bit manic. I love the eccentricity, but it sounds a bit of a muddle.

When I Grow Up cover

Pussycat Dolls - When I Grow Up

This is the type of song that could be classed as a "Marmite track". Most people will either love this, or hate it. I myself hate everything about it, apart from the "ha ha ha ha" sections. They do, at least, provide some entertainment amongst the urban noise.

Daddy's Gone cover

Glasvegas - Daddy's Gone

Glasvegas have been more hyped up than Arctic Monkeys in 'that magazine' and are harder to understand than The View. Daddy's Gone is okay for a couple of listens, but about as deserving as the latest Big Brother winner to have the spotlight.
