 How To Save A Life
|
The Fray

The Fray are a piano rock band from Colorado who formed in 2002, and consists of Isaac Slade (lead vocals and piano), Joe King (guitar and vocals), Dave Welsh (guitar) and Ben Wysocki (drums and percussion).
In 2002, The Fray released Movement EP, a demo collection of four songs. The following year they released Reason EP, which gained some local critical acclaim, despite these rave reviews, the band struggled to release a single. The Fray lists their main influences as U2, Better Than Ezra and Counting Crows, while critics compare them to Coldplay.
Epic Records officially signed The Fray in December 2004 after hearing about them through Westword’s article about The Fray being named as the “Best New Band” by readers from Denver, and The Fray then released How To Save A Life, their début album in February 2007 in the UK. The single was re-released after it was prominently used in Grey’s Anatomy, reaching number 4 in the UK Charts.
The Fray's style is a sophisticated, emotional blend of tinkling pianos, acoustic and electric guitars, and gentle unrelenting rhythms that acts as an idyllic backdrop for Isaac’s pitch-perfect, achingly beautiful vocals.
The Fray re-released their Reason EP in 2006 while on tour; occasionally playing new material, from their next album that is to be released in 2008, at their high-profile shows.
