The Bees

The Bees image

The Bees are a British band that hail from the Isle of Wight, the one thing that will never be said about them is that they are conformists. Their popularity has been built on the fact they use every musical influence possible. It's their enthusiasm for the music they produce that makes it such a joy to listen to.

The first 2 albums they released achieved critical success and several tracks were used for advertising campaigns. Sunshine Hit Me was nominated for the Mercury Prize, despite the quirky fact that it was recorded in Paul Butlers parents garden shed. The following 2 albums have been recorded in much grander surroundings, Abbey Road. This is a mark of how much the band have achieved even though they are still to get the mainstream recognition they deserve.

When you first listen to The Bees you will find yourself trying to label them, this is a pointless exercise. The reason for that is they cover everything from Psychedelia, Rock to good old fashioned ballads. Last December they toured with Madness.
