The Almost

The Almost image

The Almost are a four piece alternative rock band from Florida, who came about as the side project of Aaron Gillespie from the band Underoath. The Almost consists of Aaron Gillespie (vocals), Jay Vilardi (guitar), Alex Aponte (bass) and Kenny Bozich (drums).

There is no definite date as to when The Almost actually began, though it was when The Almost went on tour in December 2006 that Jay, Alex and Kenny joined the band. Aaron was very worried about how The Almost would be received by fans, although all gigs were total sell outs and went without a hitch.

Aaron penned and recorded the entire debut album, Southern Weather, himself, playing almost every instrument on every track on the album. In doing this Aaron hoped to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Dave Grohl, who stepped out from behind his drum kit and captured the hearts of the world rock fans as one of the genres most discernible front men. It was with The Almost’s debut album that Aaron began his transformation into the front man he so wishes to be.

Southern Weather marks the first time Tooth & Nail has partnered up with major label Virgin Records for a joint release, the debut album shot to number 29 in the US billboard charts, which left little standing in the way of Aaron on his way to stardom.

The Almost have been relentlessly touring this year in support of their album, and are touring with The Starting Line in support of Paramore across the US this winter.
