Ocean Colour Scene
Ocean Colour Scene are from Birmingham and formed as a result of 2 bands splitting in 1992. They became one of the the biggest success stories of the Britpop era. They are one of the few bands from that time that are now still going today, probably with a bigger fanbase than they had then.
The band is split into 2 camps regarding their musical roots with Oscar Harrison and Simon Fowler being very folk orientated, they have recorded their own material together away from the band. Steve Craddock has been a member of Paul Wellers backing group for a long time.
They have now become the old men of British Indie Pop, they have crowd pleasing anthems and do exactly as they please. This probably explains they uncomfortable relations they have with the musical press that have been rather scathing of their music over the years, the irony being that Ocean Colour Scene are Indie in the true sense, they record on their own label and produce their own records. Whatever has been said or written about them they continue to sell out venues everytime they play.
