The album starts of with Papa Don't Preach which was somewhat controversial on its release because people said that it encouraged teenage pregnancies, which Madonna completely denied. It has a flowing melody & inspirational lyrics sung with passion. Open Your Heart has a more upbeat feel with its play-full sounding bass-line & fast tempo. White Heat is one of the weakest tracks with a boring tune & simplistic lyrics it is simply not up to her usual standard.

Live To Tell is one of the most powerful songs that Madonna has ever created, in a return to a more balled style this is not a love song though, it has a inspirational feel about hope & not giving up. After the dreamy intro comes a powerful bass followed by a stunning example of Madonna's voice & the way the music flows with a upbeat then downbeat feel. You just drift along to it and with its well structured lyrics sung to perfection it is simply stunning.

Where's The Party just falls flat after the powerhouse of Live To Tell. It is a real low after the high of the previous track this has no depth & is just a mess. True Blue is back to Madonna's pop roots, play-full melody & lyrics get the toes tapping along, though its a simple song its executed to perfection & hits all the right areas. La Isla Bonita is a track that everyone remembers & takes them on a journey to a distant tropical island with turquoise waves lapping at the golden sand. It has a Spanish/Latino feel from not only the lyrics but the instruments also, it could even be considered the follow up to Holiday.

The album is a real mixed bag, it has some of the most memorable tracks and some of the most forgettable. It just sounds fragmented and unfinished.
