Like a Virgin was the second album release from the international popstar, Madonna.

The first track on the album is Material Girl which is the name that has stuck to Madonna throughout her career. The lyrics are well balanced & it has a nice backing track with some interesting sounding twists. Angel has a more playful sound with a toe tapping bass-line & nice vocals, but they don't really fit with the music. Like A Virgin is another of Madonna's tracks that is in another league. It scored Madonna her first number one in America, with a very strong performance, flowing music and some very nice touches sprinkled throughout the track, simply sublime.

Over And Over changes the tempo to a more dance/disco. The main problem with the track is that, as the title suggests, it is very repetitive & sounds very out of place after the previous tracks. Love Don't Live Here Anymore is more of a ballad style track with a dreamlike vibe & a amazing vocal performance with Madonna giving passion to the lyrics & putting every fibre of herself into the singing.

Into The Groove is one of the most memorable Madonna songs ever. This is another dance/disco derived track, however this track has the perfect balance & sounds very polished. Everything just flows & you just want to dance along. Dress You Up is a high-tempo dance track that doesn't work at all, bland music & shouty singing make this a poor effort & sound very dated. Shoo-Bee-Doo has a sombre feel, with another fine effort on the vocal, and some nice saxophone work included. Pretender wants to be a dance track but it fails with a very poor effort all round.

To round up, Like a Virgin starts off with some of the most memorable songs Madonna has ever done, but towards the end it simply falls apart & it feels very rushed. This may make you feel disappointed after hearing the start, which is a shame.
