Leona Lewis shot to fame as a result of winning the third series of X Factor. She has been groomed for stardom by BMG and there are many claims she will become Britain's answer to Whitney Houston.
The common misconception is that she came from nowhere, actually she attended 3 of the countries top performing arts schools, The Sylvia Young Theatre School; Italia Conti and BRIT School, attending there with Katie Melua. She took her time to release her first album but it appears it was worth the wait; it became the fastest selling début album ever in both the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. In the next year she will be trying to make a breakthrough to the difficult American market.
After her promising beginning it will be interesting to follow her career and to see if she can fulfil her potential.
