The album that seems to have been created during many hallucinations. That was the first impression I got of Late Of The Pier. I can't exactly consider myself an illegal substance user, but in my imagination this would be the resulting thought process which occurs.

The band hail from Castle Donington, more renowned for rock than rave due to it's setting for the Download Festival. Therefore the heady mix of beats which Late Of The Pier seem to bring along seem somewhat surprising.
Hot Tent Blues sounds like something you've heard thousands of times previously, although oddly different from anything else. It sounds anthemic during the opening chords and takes you very much into a world of weirdness. Space And The Woods finds you humming happily despite the oddly extra terrestrial lyrics. "And this world is no place for a mind or a thought".

Random Firl covers advert territory, but when I say advert I most definitely do not mean Double Glazing, instead Supercars, Computers and anything quite masculine and cool comes to mind. This, however, does not disguise the fact that it takes a life like sample from Come On Eileen. There are further retro sounds on Heartbeat which carries a robotic soul. Focker, however, very much attempts to hit the audience still listening to last year's Klaxons album. This is very much new rave part 2.

This does not disguise many of the albums faults, most of it sounds stolen and jazzed up (from everyone including Cliff Richard and Duran Duran) then being put into a microwave for sound. That does not disguise the fun which it is and in some ways it's almost certain to leave a smile on your face. Some of the production is astounding.
