Kaiser Chiefs - Employment

Employment cover

Employment is the début album from the Kaiser Chiefs, an Indie Rock band from Leeds.

When I first heard about the Kaiser Chiefs, I wasn’t particularly interested. Then again, at the time, I wasn’t the biggest music fan in the world. In fact, my musical taste was pretty poor back then, but I won’t go into detail!

But when I first heard Everyday I Love You Less And Less on the radio, it got my attention. I liked the lively tune to it and before I knew it, I started to like the Chiefs and ended up getting their album.

One of my favourite tracks on the album is I Predict A Riot. I am sure everyone has heard of this song in one form or another. If anyone hasn’t, they must have been living in a hole for the past few years! After all, this is their signature hit. This song is about a rowdy night out in Leeds and just like Everyday I Love You Less And Less, it’s a lively tune which can make you sing along to it, particularly to the “I predict a riot” sequence. Other personal favourites on the album include Oh My God, Modern Way and Na Na Na Na Naa.

So in conclusion, Employment is a pretty solid début album and I can only see the Kaiser Chiefs continue to rise over time. It’s an album I would like to listen to whatever time of day or night. I won’t get tired of listening to this. If you have the Chiefs’ second album (Yours Truly, Angry Mob) but don’t have Employment, then you seriously need to get this!
