Jack Johnson is Hawaiian and unsurprisingly his first love is surfing, but thankfully he also has found time to devote to music. Johnson is a man who has involvement in many projects including Bushfire Records (his own record label), formed to release soundtracks for surfing movies that he had made with school friend Chris Malloy.

Johnson is a committed environmentalist, in 2004 he co-founded the Kokua Hawaii Foundation, a non - profit making organisation that promotes environment education in Hawaiis' schools and communities. It must be his surroundings that encourage his song writing, very much like the Beach Boys before him the sun shines through his songs. He has a soothing carefree song writing style, this has helped him become a global star. His style of music could be described as moments music, as any moment could have a piece of his music to go with it.

The release of his fifth album is the first he hasn't recorded in Hawaii, on the only back cover it says that it was notes that was recorded using solar energy, now that's Green for you.
