Hinder

Hinder are an American five piece post-grunge band from Oklahoma, who formed in 2001 with drummer Cody Hanson, bass player Mike Rodden, singer Austin Winkle, and guitar players Mark King and Joe "Blower" Garvey, who are collectively dedicated to ensure the return of the good old indulgent days when sex, drugs and rock and roll weren't dirty words, but a way of life.
They released their first EP “Far From Close” which sold about 5,000 copies, then they began work for their next independent release. Although still barely known, they entered the rock scene with their first single Get Stoned and prepared for their first tour in support of their album Extreme Behaviour. Recently, they have been touring with Three Days Grace, Hoobastank, and Nickelback.
In 2005, Hinder won the monthly Launch “Who’s Next” contest for upcoming bands, while All Music Guide named their début album as one of the worst albums of the year. Despite this, they still managed to drum up a massive fan base within the US who go by the name of ‘Hinder Army’.
Hinder’s many influences come from timeless groups like Bad Company, Aerosmith and the Rolling Stones, amongst others. Their music is filled with arena rock grandeur, soaring rock vocals, fantastic dual lead guitars and ethereal four part harmonies.
Hinder says that their songs are more about personal experiences they have been through, that everyone can relate to. Hinder write their songs in a way that there are no hidden meanings, you don't have to think about what they mean as that would just defeat the purpose.
Although still relatively unknown in the UK, Hinder are going from strength to strength and are due to record their next album in January 2008.
