Duran Duran

Duran Duran experienced phenomenal success in the early 1980’s. The original line up consisted of Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes, John Taylor, Roger Taylor and Andy Taylor, none of the Taylor’s are related. Their first single, Planet Earth entered the UK top 20, but the following single, Careless Memories, only just scraped the top 40. However, with the exception of fourth single, My Own Way, the band had 11 consecutive top 10 singles and three top 3 albums, the third reaching number one.
In the mid 80’s, the band fell apart and members joined and formed different groups. John and Andy joined Power Station and the other three members set up a new band called Arcadia. In 1986, Simon LeBon, Nick Rhodes and John Taylor came together to restart Duran Duran. There was limited Success which continued through the additions of guitarist Cuccurullo and drummer Sterling Campbell. Sterling left the band in 1991, just before the limited success of Ordinary World and the Wedding Album.
During the late 1990’s, the success waned again, and it wasn’t until 2004 that the band, as the reformed classic five piece received their next top 10 single. Following receiving the outstanding contribution to music BRIT award in early 2004, the band signed a 4 album contract with Epic records. The single (Reach Up For The) Sunrise went top 5 in the UK, along with the album Astronaut.
In 2007, the band returned with a new sound, and one member less. Andy had left the band due to arguments about musical direction. Working with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake, they released their Red Carpet Massacre album, which was met with little success.
