  Daisy B - Sympathy

Sympathy cover

Daisy B was born and raised in Norfolk with Insiders' boss, Fi! This, however, hasn’t hindered her. You will soon discover that she has embraced every piece of music she has every heard and moulded it into her own unique style.

Before you jump to the wrong conclusion when hearing the intro to this 4 track EP; you can’t be bought up surrounded by tractors and end up as a Sheryl Crow impersonator; you have to have an extra dimension.

I had to chuckle as I read what she listed as her influences; the inclusion of red wine and unsuitable men made me develop a liking for her before even listening. One word follows throughout the entire EP, feisty. Each line is delivered with gusto and heart. From the title track Sympathy; you feel she has lived her songs; dusted herself down and prepared for the next challenge.

To continue with the theme of challenges, it will always be difficult for someone like Daisy not to be lazily lumped in with the likes of KT Tunstall; this is her challenge to avoid such a fate. Otherway gives the listeners a sharp poke with a cattle prod; she has something different; pay attention.

When I think about Norfolk my immediate thoughts are Bernard Matthews, tractors and a county time forgot; as a result of 4 songs I now have an addition to that list. It is music with the warmth of apple pie and as relaxing as watching the tide drift slowly out to sea, that is down to one lady called Daisy B.

Rating 8/10 No need for Sympathy for someone as talented as this.
