By air The airport is situated 8 miles south east of Birmingham city centre. It has its own mainline station, Birmingham International, connected via the air-rail link train. There are regular local buses into Birmingham and the surrounding areas leaving from the terminal. By rail Birmingham City Centre is served by three main line stations - Birmingham New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill. There are train links across the city, and out to the airport. By car Birmingham lies at the crossroads of the UK's motorway system with direct links to the M6, M5, M1, M42 and M40 making Birmingham only a couple of hours drive of London, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, Cardiff, Sheffield and Leeds. The M6 motorway connects Birmingham to London and the south, and the north-west of England and Scotland. Junction 6 of the M6 is also one of Birmingham's most famous landmarks, and probably the most famous motorway junction in the UK: Spaghetti Junction, officially called the Gravelly Hill Interchange. ![]() |
